Movin’ on up: setting up my own domain on Bluehost and more

Let’s be real: this is mainly a post because I had to add this silly thing in order to claim my blog on Bloglovin’.

Also, I needed a little sunshine and blue sky since that’s a rarity around here during these cold and rainy October days.

Now that we have that out of the way… You may notice a lot of changes around here. I bit the bullet and purchased my own domain, site host, and moved over to “big kid” WordPress last night. I feel like I accomplished a ton with setting up my own domain on Bluehost, but it was incredibly easy thanks to tips from Emily over at Em Busy Living and this amazing tutorial. A few things were a little different for me, and Jetpack is now more readily found on a WordPress install, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask me!

While transferring my blog, I noted a few things that would have made the transfer and setup way easier, so I’m hoping to compile those into a post soon for other aspiring bloggers.

Please bear with me during the transition; there may be a few kinks to work out!

  • Congrats Kim!
It is a great move, I am also thinking to make a transition. 😊
    Happy Blogging!

Thanks, Ankit! Let me know if you have any questions. Purchasing my own domain and setting up a site host was a little scary, but I’m glad I made the move. The link I posted is a great resource. Happy blogging to you, too! 🙂

  • Congrats on getting your new domain – you will absolutely love it! Definitely sets your blog apart in the atmosphere and feels so much more like your own digital home!

    xxo.

Thank you! It already feels so much more legit, plus it makes me want to put a lot more work onto it. I can’t wait to clean it up and get to posting more!
